Jean Paul Gaultier at The National Gallery of Victoria

The work of Jean Paul Gaultier is remarkably astounding & beautiful – now you can experience the wonders of the designer first hand!

More than 140 garments spanning the designer’s creative output – including film and music costumes, couture and ready-to-wear – will be on display as well as a selection of dresses designed for some of Gaultier’s Australian muses including Kylie Minogue and Cate Blanchett. The show also displays the stunning black dress worn by Nicole Kidman, who was his first couture client, as well as the show-stopping cone-bra first displayed on the iconic superstar, Madonna.

But the significant work doesn’t stop at the beautiful handcrafted designs. There are some insanely stimulating hair creations happening with Union Jack inspired hair wefts, larger then life Mohawks and jaw-dropping bridal headdresses.

The exhibition is a MUST see for lovers of fashion, art and everything in between. The work of Gaultier is uniquely innovative with an exhibition to match. Faces of Gaultier’s muses are projected onto mannequin’s faces with a rotating catwalk exhibiting designs that break down preconceived notions of fashion and beauty.

The National Gallery of Victoria will be exhibiting The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk until 8th February 2015.
