For Alan White, pushing boundaries and influencing peers and raw talent alike, is an inherent part of his pioneering spirit. Throughout his twenty-year career in hair design - during which his ability and innovative techniques have made him highly sought-after - he has forged an extensively emulated repertoire by working with fashion's finest photographers, such as Patrick Demarchelier, Greg Kadel, David Bailey, Richard Avedon, and with the world's foremost hair and cosmetics brands, such as L'oreal, GHD, Wella and Revlon.
Emerging from the progressive days of a punk-fuelled London, where he formed close bonds with music industry heavyweights Japan, Depeche Mode, Kim Wilde, The Go-Go's and Spandeau Ballet, Alan established a reputation as a vanguard early on. Success ensued in various forms - first as a colour specialist, then, in addition to hair, as founder of Low Pressure, London's premier surf shop, designer of active wear label Mau Mau, publisher of 'The Storm Rider Guide', and as a philanthropist, spearheading non-profit organization The Clean Water Initiative. These enterprises took him around the globe and helped him realise a love and subsequent flair for business, as well as collaborating on, and actualizing fresh and demanding ideas.
In 1996, he affirmed an innate and irrepressible drive to focus his efforts solely on hair; he moved to New York and joined the ranks of the most prestigious image-makers. The synergy between his vast knowledge and skills and holistic approach to life, proved once again a formidable asset, setting his session-hairstyling and wig-making career's trajectory. Alan has since worked with pillars of the fashion and film industries, such as Kate Moss, Giselle Bündchen, Tom Ford, Matt Dillon and Vincent Gallo. He's contributed to leading fashion publications, Vogue Italia, Paris Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, W magazine, í-D and Russh. And has been invited by the world's leading luxury brands, including Calvin Klein, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Donna Karen and Collette Dinnigan, to impart his signature.
Alan and his family returned to Australia in 2006. Alan immediately sought to emerge his expertise and years spent discovering inspired hair products and accessories, with his long-standing belief in the importance of education and industry support. The Alan White Anthology was founded.
With a stable of personally and concisely edited products sourced from around the world and crafted using time-honoured and revolutionary techniques, Anthology is proving to be a beacon within the industry. Furthermore, given the superior range is fortified with an education and mentoring program, Alan White Anthology is more than just a brand, it's a collective, designed to be instrumental in fostering and promoting the future of global hair design.
